Over the past year, we have been confronted by some of the more challenging aspects of our society, and in particular, the negative self image and opinions many girls have of themselves. One of Susan’s wonderful clients, Ashley Wiles, is confronting this challenge head on with Sole Girls, an organization aiming to help improve the self esteem and physical health of young girls.
Many young girls are struggling with their changing bodies and the social pressure to look a certain way. Sole Girls is using physical fitness to empower these girls to have fun and feel good about the bodies they have been given. To do this, they have created workshops that train and teach girls about running and positive self image.
On November 3rd, Sole Girls and MEC are having a 5 km Community Fun Run in North Vancouver! This to be a low pressure event, so if you are like me and only run if you’re being chased, don’t worry! You can walk, skip, or hop the 5 kms. Come out with a group of girls and show your support for a great cause. Susan is already putting together a team and we want to see you there!
